Meet Our Founder

Andrew Hatherley

Hello. I am Andrew Hatherley, founder of Transcend Retirement. Thank you for visiting my website.

For more than 20 years I’ve worked with people dealing with the financial and life issues of retirement. In particular, I work with people going through major life transitions such as divorce, widowhood and the difficult life adjustments involved in leaving full time work.

I have earned the designation Chartered Retirement Planning Counselor, CRPC, awarded to financial advisors who have completed training in key retirement areas such as retirement income planning, investment management and estate planning. I am also a Certified Divorce Financial Analyst (CDFA) and founded the company Wiser Divorce Solutions (wiserdivorcesolutions.com), which seeks to help divorcing couples and individuals avoid the financial and emotional hazards of divorce. Having been divorced myself, I know the importance of divorce financial planning.

I also successfully completed the Transcend! Course with best-selling psychologist Scott Barry Kaufman. In this course I learned the basic principles of humanistic and positive psychology.

I was born in Watford, England. For those of you who follow English Premier League soccer you might guess correctly that I am a huge fan of Watford Football Club! A navy brat, I was raised in Canada, spending my early years in Nova Scotia before moving with my family to Winnipeg. I earned my Master of Business Administration (MBA) at McGill University in Montreal in 1990 and a Certificate in International Management from ESADE, one of the world’s top business schools, in Barcelona. As an undergraduate, I specialized in History and Latin American Studies. I speak Spanish quite well but am a little out of practice!

When I am not traveling with my wife Jackie, I like to write. I just finished my first novel and have also written several short stories and a screenplay. I also like to read, play guitar, work out and watch classic movies. I live in the domestic tranquility of Summerlin, which may explain the need for the occasional trip overseas!

The purpose of this first face-to-face meeting, whether in person or on Zoom, is to understand your goals, challenges, and opportunities unique to your situation.

Your answers to our questions, along with documents we requested you bring, will guide our discussion.

 

Our Behind-the-Scenes Analysis

We will apply our expertise to answer the financial questions and concerns you identified in our conversation.

Our goal is to answer the fundamental question “Am I going to be OK?”

 

Plan Presentation

We will give you clear answers to your critical questions. We will present you with your Retirement Roadmap, giving you Action Steps to build the financial foundation for the next stage of your life.

At the end of this meeting, there’s no hard sell - we’ll ask you to reflect on our conversations and whether our expertise will benefit you and your family.

 

Sleep on it

We are in no rush for you to make a decision. Ask yourself:
